“KARST IN THE OZARKS” Denise Vaughn on Green Time TV

Karst areas are formed when limestone-based sedimentary rock is dissolved underground.  This creates caves, springs, sinkholes and losing streams, which are creeks where the water disappears, going underground.  Host Don Fitz and Karst Project Director Denise Vaughn discuss how, in karst areas, rainwater flows quickly underground with little and sometimes no filtering, so it can easily be polluted.  Karst geology also creates many popular Ozark destinations: springs, rivers and caves. In Missouri, this includes Jack’s Fork River, Greer Spring, Grand Gulf and Tumbling Creek Cave.  This Green Time (No. 467 includes the movie “Karst in the Ozarks.” Green Time is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KNLC Channel 24.  Call 314-727-8554 or contact [email protected] for info.

“HORSE SLAUGHTERING” Bonnie Boime on Green Time TV

Did you know that America does not ban horse slaughtering?  But, why, when virtually no one eats horse meat in this country?  Bonnie Boime, of St. Louis Animal Rights Team (START) and host Don Fitz discuss how horse slaughtering can ruin the environment and economy of a town where a plant is located.  They ask if laws truly require the humane slaughter of horses, how many jobs are really created, and how we can protect horses and communities from the practice.  This Green Time (No. 444) features the movies “Horse Slaughter” and “Horse Dallas Crown.”  It is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KNLC Channel 24.  Call 314-727-8554 or contact [email protected] for info.
